If anyone needs help modelling new units, particulary in Poser, don't hesitate to ask a question, I'm more than willing to help out, I have learnt a lot about Poser from modelling the new units for the mod.

I have created a new section on the forums "Modelling" which I hope to update with some useful information and files in the coming weeks to help anyone that wishes to model new units for any strategy game.

Do you know how to use 3ds max? I am currently preparing to animate my units so I might need help occasionally.

Yes, I know [HWK] Michael and he has helped me a lot. However, he isnt online very often in the summer, which is when I have the most time to work on my mod. I need to know the most efficient way to render animation images and name them properly. Do you think you can help me with that? By the way, do you have windows live messenger?

I use a Python script in Poser, this script will render all the correct directions automatically, makes it a lot easier, and it doesn't matter what you name the output frames/images, as I just use the File Renamer Tool v1.0.0 http://swordandarrow.ucoz.com/index/file_renamer_v1_0_0/0-16 very simple to use and names the frames in the correct 00000 +9 format.
Follow the instructions here if you get lost: http://swordandarrow.ucoz.com/index/adding_a_new_unit_to_the_game/0-31

Steam has/had a nice sale recently for all the Cossack and AC games, except divided nation I guess, so it had introduced me to a whole new world. I've modded games from Company of Heroes to Age of Empires. This though is a joke. I teach myself how to mod and use other peoples post to guide me. There is little much help on modding to ACFB other than this site. I actually went to the length of signing up Just to get intouch with u Fallen_Knight. I can not read these NDS files. I also don't have anything to compare them to in "english" to see what I am even editing. I get the jizt of them, but I don't know what is what.

I don't really have any interest in modding the animations or really anything deeper than that. I am only interested in making the vanillia ACFB a bit more to my liking, while using only the same objects, animations, sounds, ect that are already in the game.

For example:  I want the Pueblos to be able to construct all upgrades to their mines. Just make it frikken easier for them to get coal. How would I go about that? I got the GSC editor/packer all that stuff. I have the Pueblos.NDS file open, but it's all Greek to me. I have a vauge idea of what im wanting to do, but unable to read what unit is what.

Also: the tradepost produces gold. How would I go about making the Souix "Mill" produce food in the same manner, or atleast mildly slower. I enjoy the meatbarer getting food, but I often find them standing next to bear and buffalo bodies just looking at it. I tell them to gather, they do- but after a while they 'forget'. I dont like multitasking them. Hence why I want the 'mill' to produce food naturally.

This is what im going for. A better vanillia experience. So all the code is already in the game. I just need to move it around. How?  smile
Thank u. Sorry for the long ass post.

Okay. Update. About an hour later after looking at and comparing the USA and Pueblo, and looking over the tutorial a bit more indepth, is it safe to say....the

Is that/those the mines? It "looks" like it. With the addition of the 'crew' members per upgrade. If it is, the Pueblos (who cant upgrade beyond lvl 1 mines for gold, iron, or coal), they have the same code already in. Even the +40 upgrade there. But its not active in game. I know u need the center upgrade to even get past lvl 2 mine upgrades for USA or otherwise. The pueblos dont get that upgrade. Infact no native does. So that tells me naturally all i need to do is enable that upgrade for the pueblos. I assume.  I guess I'll keep this possibly dead forum post informed.

BTW the info i put comes from the USA.NDS and the Pueblo.NDS. Forgot to say that, but Im pretty sure u already knew that.

Update. Pueblos already have the ability to ugprade beyond lvl 1 on their stone mines, without the help of a center upgrade. USA and others require a small fee of gold, and they can upgrade beyond level 2 mines. They need the center upgrade. In the pueblo NDS file, there were little /'s next to the SpnRud code -- but there were none next to the stone version of the SpnRudcode. Pueblos could upgrade beyond level 1 on their stone mine. So I simply removed the /'s from infront of the code for the pueblo mines and lo' and behold I can now upgrade beyond level 1 gold, coal, and iron mines. I'm pleased with myself. I still need help searching for the Tradepost code. I need to see where/how it generates gold, and translate that into food for the souix from their "mill".

Update. I'm not gonna bother going into details. I'm certain any one of you already know the mode code. But I have found out how to add a mine for souix (however the build icon takes the place of trade post) so I didn't bother with that. As I am unsure how to set it's placement better on the build UI. Anyway, i have finally found out how to make the souix mill generate food. I found the same 'code' from the trade post at how it generates gold. I've torn into the MD files and started to chop up the info into something I can understand. Its been way too many hours and im finally taking a break. I discovered everything I wanted to discover (sort of). I still need some help and tips to optimize my future crap. I think i generally am trying to make the natives a bit more likeable. imo

Okay. Found out how to add mines (still dont know how to make it correctly on the build ui). Found out how to make any one type of resource to generate from any one building. Dunno if its possible to have multiple resources generated from a single building. I tried but it never worked. Can only get just one resource per building. Figured out where and how to edit unit health and things. Still a bit unsure about how to edit damage correctly. Souix meatbarers still become idle after a few moments of food gathering. I wouldn't know how or where to edit that AI. I know there is friendly fire, otherwise I wouldnt have gotten the option to not fire into friendly mobs. However I dont see that option for Aztec spear slingers, and I think they consistantly keep throwing spears into eachothers back as they charge. Not sure how to edit that.

The games information interface during gameplay is only slightly useful. It was helpful enough for me to see that American Fusiliers seem to do like 40 dmg melee, and cost like 25 or more gold per unit per second/minute. A gold upkeep. 40 damage, opposed to other nations 12 or so damage. Thats more than double. Is that an error? I am all for USA, but historically speaking, their bayonets were no different than anyone elses. Anyway -

Ive learned unit build times. Learned how to edit building 'build time'. I've managed to find out how to edit the simple things - sort of. I'm pretty sure no one will ever respond to these posts, but they are there for future modders.

NDS files - to find the faction specific information
MD files - to edit bulding information

Kre - Barracks
Kri - Pesant
Mel - Farm
SpdRud (or w/e) has to do with mines
Lut - Usually an archer (secondary unit)
Sha - Shaman
Cen - Town center
The Doa and Doa2 are both tier houses

Thats all I can remember off the top of my head. The text is very confusing, but thankfully reading MD and NDS files, they each tell u what the other civilization will/is using, so u can edit what u desire. For example, the Aztec MD files share some buildings (such as the mill/mel) with the mayans. So u think u only need to edit the Aztec building MD files. You would also need to edit the mayan mill, simply because Aztecs use that mill as well.

Ive been working on making the natives more plesant. Any advice or tips and trick, or even a random good idea, would be welcomed. I'll keep the forum up to date, in the hopes that future modders might have a better understanding of these codes.

As you might have noticed there is little activity on this site ( sad to say ), but I keep coming back, not always logging on.
There are other sites you might be interested in;

Hope this information helps, these sites are certainly a lot more active. smile
