Morale and fear

In ACFB and ACDN, troops get scared and flee when a certain number of nearby units are killed in general. However, in HEW, certain units specialize in causing fear by firing, some by Melee, and some do not cause fear at all no matter what. I like this method but I think it is a bit too restrictive and specialized. Also, I dont like the idea that some types of troops cant cause fear at all. In my Franco Prussian War mod, I would like to make all units able to cause fear by both Melee and firing, but some more than others. Is this possible? Is it possible to make a certain unit cause fear more easily than another? For example, militia units can cause fear by firing, but light infantry can cause fear much more easily, and grenadiers cause more fear by Melee. Is it also possible to make cannons cause fear by solid shot?

Yes this can be done easily. For example Fear Of Horses is one of the types of morales. I remember [Hawk]Michael telling me when he was doing some testing he accidently set the Fear Of Horses parameter really high on a particular unit, whenever Horse units would come near them they would flee, this was good news for me as I would like to do this with my Peasant Militia unit, if Horse units charge them they flee, this reflects realistic battle tactics.

Do specific fears apply only when units are killed by that weapon or can it apply whenever the weapon is being used?

Fear is determined more by events I think, for example when a number of men are killed at once, other units in the vicinity start to flee, but I think you can set it to a certain weapon, such as when a cannon fires grape shot, but this may just be because of mass deaths in the vicinity, I have not spent much time looking at the morale system, its something I will be looking into soon.

In HEW, line infantry, skirmishers and militia dont cause fear no matter what. Light infantry cause fear by firing only and grenadiers cause fear by melee only. Cavalry cause fear by charging but not by firing. Cannons cause fear by grapeshot but not by solid shot. In HDN, troop get scared in general if they are fired on by muskets, solid shot, or grapeshot while they are in tightly packed formations. Melee also causes fear but is more subtle. I want to achieve something like a blend between theses two systems. All troops would be able to cause fear but at different extents depending on their type.
