Something that I had been thinking for a while now and was wondering on what others thought of the idea of "upgrading to the next century" what this basically entails is you start in the 9th or 10th century (this was the period in which a lot of medieval factions really started to really shape themselves) and only have basic units and buildings that were available at that time to that particular nation, when you have built a few different structures/buildings and researched a few technologies you can then upgrade to the next century at a cost (food, wood, etc.), when you have upgraded to the next century new units, technologies and buildings become available and so on.

I know this idea is very similar to the Age of Empires 2 system and some may even say it's a clone, but this mod has so many more features than what Age of Empires 2 has and besides there is nothing wrong with taking a good idea and implementing it somewhere to make something better, that's what progress is all about.

Please note that this feature would not be implemented for a while, we would like to focus on getting a working demo using the current system, but it's just an idea.

I Agree It might be a slight take on previous cossacks games and many other RTS games but none the less I do believe that a clear split must be made at some point. Maybe a chain of building requirements And a more comprehensive Tech Tree which forces the player to make difficult choices. All the techs in AC were simple, Improve attack, Improve Morale, Increase recruit Speed. Only the research order affected gameplay. I we introduced Techs which had pluses and negatives we could mix it up slightly.

An idea could be that France france for example has a unique technology which we call The Persecution of the Templars, historically Pope Clement V, pushed by King Philip IV of France ( who was bankrupt and very indebted to the Templars) dissolved the Knights Templar. All goods supposedly going to the church, much however was grabbed by the King. Researching this would give the french player a largeee sum of money at the expense of not being able to produce their powerful units.

Another could be the Reinforcing of Hunting/Poaching Laws in England, archers would take longer to recruit ( due to the fact that more get caught hunting in royal forests) but that their attack parameters are increased ( supposedly because that those who do not get caught are better archers )

I like the ideas, you are right it would be good to take the mod in a direction a little different from other RTS games, but you don't want to move too far away because then it loses its character and familiarity, features like this can be added later on, the main concern is getting all the units and buildings in the game and then going from there.

Definitely, we havent got a skeleton to work with yet, once we have a core of units and buildings we'll work on putting meat on the bones!

i agree with everithing written above, and i would say never care what other say unless it is constructive, age of empires cannot claim parts of human logic, nor logic of game principles. the proposed game should a little from everithing, and better than everothing else reunited. this is how one must think.......
