What are peoples opinions on this castle and it's size, is it too big or too small for American Conquest, I think it is a good size as it represents a good scale compared to units sizes, have a look at the units standing next to it to get an idea of the scale:

And some more for comparisons with other units & buildings for the mod:

I'm thinking of making it wider, not sure though, as you have to take into account walls and towers and although they are seperately built, they are also big, I think the height is spot on though.
Also, pay no attention to the watchtower height, that will be reduced dramatically.

I just redone the castle render at the right angles, the above ones were only the rough drafts, but I just realised the only way we can work out the correct size is by having the castle as it should look properly in the game, here is the correct one:

BTW, imagine your Trebuchet pounding this castle from afar OSS! Will look amazing watching your Trebuchet being loaded and fired by the Trebuchet crew, a massive boulder flying across the screen and smashing the castle! Wait until you see the stone towers and walls, they complete the castle so nicely, you can have great defenses around your town.

A couple of ideas for the Trebuchet also would be like the cannon in AC where you can have two different types of shot (cannon ball or grapeshot) for the Trebuchet you could have it fling a very strong iron ball, it could cost a lot to fire but would do more damage, or for a bit of fun the Trebuchet could fling a dead cow or horse like they really did during medieval times, or a dead bloated corpse with black death!
And also on the Trebuchet OSS, I still think that it should created at the Siege Workshop with the crew, it comes out with the crew (like the cannon in AC) and the Trebuchet is packed onto a cart with all the bits, they push this cart on the map to where the user directs and when you want to fire it (when it's in range) the crew have hammers and start to build it. To me it seems the only realistic way, and let's face it, it would look amazing! Just an idea though biggrin
One more thing on the Castle, you will like the construction frames I am going to do, will have a treadmill crane in some of the scenes and the scaffolding and ladders look great too!

the keep is to small. units are smaller then the merlons. and the gate forhouse stiched to the keep should be one level taller. analyse what i sent you when we met. there you have many features of fortification.

How do you get units to appear on top of buildings? When I tried (without modding though) that, the units were usually blocked by the buildings.

It was done with block points, but in a way it does not work or look right as units appear walk up the building, and any enemy unit can just walk to the same spot and attack, it's not a true way of having units placed on top of buildings, there could be a way by doing what a gate does in the game, as this is lockable, it may be possible to try something similar with a building but this has not been tested yet.

Why not use the same method as the gold mine, having a bunch of stairs for the units to use.  This method might take more time but it probably will look better than the units climbing the structure!
