I had some time off modding. It also seems that there just isn't any interest in the American Conquest game or mods, there isn't much point in working on a mod that only a dozen people would play. It's a real shame though because the game engine is very versatile and would have been perfect for a medieval mod.
I'm not going to say the mod is definitely finished, I may still continue working on it at some stage, but for the time being progress has halted.
A few people often said that they would love the help out it's such a good idea but they didn't have any 3D/Animation skills or they couldn't afford to purchase it, but what they didn't realise is that you can help in so many different ways, the most important one is to spread the word about the mod, you have a lot of forums on modding, you have social media such as FaceBook, if more people knew about the mod it could have progressed further, I never had the time to do all the promotion as I spent a lot more time working on the animations and data editing for the game engine, I did however post the mod details on a few different sites and forums but more could have been done.

I will also upload all my units as well as props, I'm hoping that some use can be made of them even if it's not for the SAM mod.

Also, can you please either upload your lights setup or write a short tutorial about how to set them up? It would be very helpful. Thanks

New to the forum.
I'm an expert in C++,opengl, directX.
i'm very interested in making a rts game for my hobby. AOE, cossacks used to be my favourites. Still play aoe1 with friends these days.
Have a dream to make a RTS for myself, and people in my country.
But making a game from scratch is so much for me. I'm working with the stratagus engine, but it's not satisfied me.
The game run too slow with too many units. Cossack run so well with hundreds of units on screen, aoe1,2 run so well with low spec comp. Optimize the graphic seem out of my ability and time.
So I really want to have a hand on the cossack engine. If anything I can help pls tell me.
Thanks
my email is hatuan1984@gmail.com!

The Sword & Arrow mod is certainly not dead, I can't justify buying Poser & other tools as well as other items so far used in the mod plus all the time spent making units and buildings to just throw it away. What has come clear to me is that a team is needed to work constructively on this mod, sharing ideas and making the mod become a reality, for me to work alone on the mod in my spare time would take years and years.

The American Conquest engine is just the perfect engine for a Medieval type mod, it is by far the best 2D engine, the features that it boasts can make the Sword & Arrow mod unique.

hatuan your help would be greatly appreciated, and anyone else who is willing to help please offer assistance, if we can get a working demo going and show people what an amazing mod it will be I am sure that more people will become aware of it and help out.

If you have a passion for medieval history and games like me, get involved! Have your say and offer advice, every bit counts!

So glad to see you back, I view the site ( not always logging on ) almost everyday to see if there is any news. I own Poser 2010 but am completely lost, the manual might as well be written in a foreign language so I have been eagerly awaiting a tutorial on the matter.
Once again, glad your back. respect .

Thanks for the support :-)

Actually I was in the same position as you in regards to Poser and not knowing how to use it, I never imagined even being able to do a simpe animation, the task seemed daunting, but it's actually so easy, I used the tutorial from the CivFanatics website, it only takes about an hour to go through it at your own pace and you are animating in no time, my first unit was the Longbowman, that unit came up good, but the Pikeman, Sergeant, and Catapault came up really good, you get better as you go.

I am going to upload all of my units and materials/props for others to use, they will be handy to use for anyone wanting to mod.

I am going to re-do the Longbowman animations anyway because I want the unit to stick his arrows in the ground for preparing to fire animation, this was common for archers of the period, they also believed that dirtying the arrow tips was also harmful, which is true if it gets bacteria and infects an enemies wound. The Longbowman will also be able to build stake defences as you can see in the animations on the main page.

The poison arrows of one of the Indian nations in American Conquest was a great idea, when an enemy unit is struck with an arrow (or was it a dart?) the units energy would slowly drain away, even if it moved out of the combat zone, this could be interesting if implemented into the mod, not sure if poison arrows were ever used on the medieval European battlefield though?
