When you make a new unit for Cossacks or American Conquest, you
need to name each frame a specific number. Because the game uses 9 different
directions for animations, each animation frame is named in increments of 9, for
example the front direction animation (South) frame names look like this: 00000.bmp 00009.bmp 00018.bmp 00027.bmp 00036.bmp 00045.bmp 00054.bmp etc.
Then the next direction animation (South/West) names look like this: 00001.bmp 00010.bmp 00019.bmp 00028.bmp 00037.bmp 00046.bmp 00055.bmp etc.
How to use the File Renamer tool: Open up the tool, the left window is where you browse to find
your files that you want rename, click on the folder which contains your .bmp
files, the middle window now displays all the .bmp files, select all these files
by holding and dragging your mouse pointer over the files, now they will be all
selected. Make the "Rename prefix:" box empty. In the "Start
from:" box you need to enter the first frames name, depending on which
direction animation you are naming this will be one of the following 00000,
00001, 00002, 00003, 00004, 00005, 00006, 00007, 00008. I have used the 00002
direction animation as the example. In the "Increment by:" box
type "9". In the right window under "Preview renamed
names" it will show you what the renamed files will look like. "Click
the Rename Selected Files" button and the tool will rename all the
files to what you specified. Your .bmp files will now be in the correct numerical
format to be packed and added to the game!
